In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I just want to a take a moment and show my gratitude. I am grateful for a wonderful and loving family. I am grateful for my wonderful wife Heidi and my beautiful boy Archer. I am grateful for the community where I live. They have been so immensely gracious to me and supportive. Most importantly, I am grateful for all that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have done for me. I have no comprehension of it all, but when I get a glimpse of it, I am overwhelmed.
As we look at the world we can see how many things are wrong with it; but, if we look inward and consider all the things that we have and are grateful for, we can then look outward and know that the most precious gift we can give others is love.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:16-17
“Jesus said . . . Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets” Matthew 22:37-40
“Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Matthew 25:40
I put these scriptures in this order because of the circular effect that it causes. Heavenly Father loves us and his Son, Jesus Christ loves us. There are an infinite number of miracles that we cannot understand but we know His love is shown through the love that others give us. As we are shown love, we are expected to give love unto others, and in doing that, we are showing love towards Heavenly Father. And this is the most precious gift we can give and receive. This is something we can be truly grateful for that does not end.
